The Arthashastra is an ancient Indian treatise on statecraft, economic policy, military strategy, and governance. Traditionally attributed to Kautilya (also known as Chanakya or Vishnugupta), a scholar and advisor to the Maurya Emperor Chandragupta (circa 4th century BCE), it’s considered one of the most influential works on politics and administration from ancient India.
